You could base the shadow influence on, maybe, how close the ray gets to
the center when it passes through the sphere. Or simply measure the
enter and exit points and calculate the total volume penatrated.
Basically, if a ray hit's a halo's sphere, it calculates how much of a
shadow there is based on how much of the sphere the ray had to travel
through. Or something like that.
