Hi,
I agree that things should be grayed out like that... though I think blender
should let you do the centre type things in edit mode. BTW, you can add and
delete materials in object mode... but currently you can only add new
materials in edit mode. (I think you should also be able to delete materials
in edit mode).
I see you haven't really implemented any of the changes people have
suggested... BTW, I think all textboxes should be the same colour (like the
ones that say the material, object and mesh name) and the toggle/radio and
other buttons could be the same colours - in blender one type was usually
teal, the other usually orangey. There shouldn't be a red-green colour
scheme due to those with colour blindness though.

Maybe I have missed something, but I think his idea of having the menu items
floating around the cursor was brilliant and simple. I sounded easy to use
und uncluttered - I was looking forward to trying it out in 2.30! So why are
people trying to move away from his idea?  I don't know!
