[Bf-education] question about Blender certification

Hello Blender officials and others,
I am john caldwell, a computer arts teacher at Miami Central High School in Miami Florida. For the past several years, the state of Florida has included what they call "Industry Certifications" in the calculation of high school grades. That is in addition to the graduation rate, and Advanced Placement classes and school FCAT test scores in reading math and science. The "Industry Certifications" are tests given to determine the proficiency level of students who are trained to use certain programs, such as Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Microsoft Word, Automechanics, Food preparation and some others. Autodesk Studio Max and Revit are also on the list. The makers of these programs have researched and worked hard to lobby the state of Florida to include their programs in the list of state accepted certification exams for High school students. The requirements for being included can be found on the State of Florida's website FLDOE.com (or net). A few years back, I sent an email to Ton and asked him if he had intentions of pursuing a state certification for Blender in the public schools of America. He responded that at the time there was nothing. So, now I am asking the question again, to anyone out there with firsthand knowledge, is there a simple proficiency test for Blender that has the Blessing of the Blender foundation, that could be adopted by the state of Florida to certify high school students in the Program Blender. FYI, the Adobe Photoshop proficiency test only has 36 questions. It is an online test administered by a company called Certiport (certiport.com). They oversee the tests I listed before, Photoshop, Flash, dreamweaver, also Indesign, Premier, Studio Max, Revit, Microsoft Word. The way they work this is, for $3000.00 a school can purchase a one year 30 seat site license that can be devied up between classes so that each class can have a few seats. This, what I am telling you is actually very big news. First, all high schools in Florida are forced into this process of certifying their students in Industry Certifications. It gets these programs into the brains of beginning artists and graphic designers, meaning that the students will probably use these specific programs for life (that is if the research is valid). The makers of the programs will make a ton of money, because in order to be tested in these programs, the school has to purchase the programs, which BTW are extremely expensive. With all the talent that has gone into the making of Blender over the years, it seems to me that a simple online test approved by the Blender Foundation that could give accurate immediate results online, would be a simple thing. The problem is, getting someone with the time on their hands to navigate the halls of the state capitol at tallahassee Florida and rub elbows with the people responsible for deciding what programs to include in the state accepted certification list. So, again, my question is, is this already in the works? If not, is there someone out there with the ability to make it happen? Sincerely, John Caldwell, Computer Arts Teacher, Miami Central High School.

Hello,

is there any graphical tag, or icon specifying BFCT certificate from BF?
I'd love to put it in emails or webpage. Big players, like Adobe, Microsoft
and others have such nice images already for their certified staff.

Hello Piotr,

We were discussing this with the education board. Having a new-simpler logo
to be used along the Blender websites and for emails or printed material.

There were some proposals and we should decide in one soon. It will be
informed on this mailing list. Thanks for bringing the topic up!

Cheers,
