[Bf-education] Bf-education Digest, Vol 96, Issue 6 - A blender user certification is required?

Hello everyone!

I think there are a lot of topics to discuss.

Piotr, the idea of get discussion topics organized and keep a record on the
wiki sounds great. you've created the wiki page?

We can start with a list of topics, contributions and questions we would
like to talk about, and then have a discussion on each topic to try to
reach common ground.

We can chat on the #blendereducation IRC channel on freenode too.

Maybe a forum could help to keep track of all the treads?

The proposal here, is to create a standardized tests or exams (or exam set)
by skill, and offer this to schools and colleges to certify students
with.The certificate would still be
officially issued by the school itself not by the BF.

We all on the mail list, have extensive experience teaching blender, would
be great if we can build a standard that everyone can use.

>From time to time a blender student/user or a school/training center ask
for an official blender user certification. And as blender is becoming more
popular, the demand grows. On my humble opinion, a certification is a tool
that tells an employer that an individual has studied some field, and is
used as a certainty that the person you are hiring has the skills to do the
work. I am aware it's not a 100% guarantee of proof, but still is a
recognition of his/her habilities. It will become a responsibility of the
certificate issuer the quality of education a blender student receives, and
i am sure we can help with it, working on creating a standard for
evaluating the knowledge.

About the certificate itself, in the past, Ton suggest to create or use
something like Mozilla Open Badges (http://openbadges.org ) instead of a
certificate. Seems like a good idea to me, what do you think?.

I would like to propose the fist topic to be discussed, i think we must
begin from the beginning: A blender user certification is required?, yes?,
no?, why? pros and cons?

Greetings!
