Read the Blender.org website. It has answers to these questions.
Start by watching all the videos you can find. I like Andrew Price's
works but there are a lot of other videos listed on Blender.org.
Read the manual and find PDF books on the internet and read them.
Do short projects in each area of blender.
Model something like a chair and then after a bit an animal and
finally do your own face.
Rig your animal and then your face.
Sculpt something like a face or monster in sculpt mode.
Edit together a short film made with animation or even just a few video bits.
Try out cycles and do a photo real room.
Get good with the compositor using lens flares and blurs etc.
Start helping people on IRC!!!! A great way to learn how to be a
teacher and the normal problems that people are having.
