Hi,

I have been to all the Blender education centers I can find in Montreal. My favorite is call Studio XX on Berri street here. Really nice class 28 inch monitors, fast Macs and great classroom layout. A real Gem.

I think a key to turning Blender 3D into hi-tech bread and butter here in Montreal at least, is to get it into the schools as I have been attempting here with the School Board of Greater Montreal. I think grades 7 , 8 and up are a good starting point.

Another key may be to aim lower. What I mean by this is that not everyone needs all the amazing abilities of Blender 3D, for many, I think the Blender 3D VSE is an important feature that is also a somewhat easier to learn element of Blender overall.
I use the VSE and text from the 3D window as a starting point with my students. It is easier to orient a student in the 3D window with text then a cube floating in space.
I wonder if a configuration for people only really interested video editing of some home movies and the like to rival FCP and others would increase Blender 3D use and awareness?

Just thinking out loud.

> I am currently teaching game design and development at Southern New Hampshire University (snhu.edu). We introduce UDK3, Unity, and Blender as well as Maya and Z-Brush. I will not be attending any conferences, however if there is anyway I may contribute to this project, please let me know. Currently we are working on Interactive Story Telling (IS) using HTML5. I think Blender with its Python programming base would be an excellent candidate for IS. If you wish, you may view my YouTube training videos in C++, HTML5, and Blender (prof.t.adamson).
