Many certifying bodies (for example NABCEP which certifies solar training
in north america) don't actually set the exams. They just set the
standards and allow other organizations to submit their exams for
acceptance as a certifying exam.

This has the advantage that existing programs like the one at MIT wouldn't
have to waste their work done in setting their exam; and it allows more
flexibility for different teaching styles, emphasis etc.

I think it would be great to have this group set some sample exams but
leave the door open for other groups to have their exams approved as well.

ps. Could people remember to delete the existing text when they hit the
"reply" button, or uncheck the "include original text" box. It makes
scrolling through the conversations much easier.
