Hi everyone,
This is a second posting (I think the first, with attachment, failed), so apologies if you have seen it before.

I have just completed a personal, quick-and-dirty investigation to help me (and anyone else who's interested) to see what the current state of the current wiki documentation is, and what needs to be done. I have simply scanned (not read) all manual pages; looked at the notes at the top of the page, and classified the page as OK (0, green), questionable (1, amber), or needing update (2, Red). Note in particular that "0" does not guarantee the page is correct, complete and up-to-date; it means that there's something there which, at a glance, looks reasonable.

Results for the whole manual are in a large .xls spreadsheet, with summary table and chart at the end (this should be readable by both Microsoft Excel and OpenSource Office). At present, we have 20 chapters (one empty), with 589 pages (there may be a few others that are not in the LH menu). Of these, 213 need a lot of work- they are mostly either Void (empty), or are direct copies of the 2.49 manual page (complete with out-of-date images). They are unevenly distributed between chapters as follows:

Title
ChapterO.K.???UpdateIntroduction
11310Starting
22900Data System and Files
3181029Modeling
423638Modifiers and Deformation

170014Editing Sequences
18006Extending Blender
19504Game Engine

I can send the complete spreadsheet to anyone interested. It can be used again in 2/3 months to check on progress - next time would be MUCH quicker because the framework's there, and I won't have to type in all the file-names, etc.

I hope it's useful.

Regards,
Jim Tucker (sculptorjim)
