Until now, I was also unable to open any of his archives either.

Flo: could you please use another archiver?  For example, have a look at 
http://www.info-zip.org/ - especially http://www.info-zip.org/WiZ.html .

It's free software - get it and try again.  (Or try to find out what 
else might corrupt your packages - perhaps upload difficulties?)
