[Bf-cycles] Tile memory deleted before rendering complete

I've been running Blender fine using and older version
(c8e947a4529e06d173c82a2acf296c376bbafe0d from June of last year). On
windows using CPU device.
But when I update to ToT (c8e947a4529e06d173c82a2acf296c376bbafe0d) my
application crashes inside of path_trace.
It appears to be deleting the tile that is being still being rendered in
task.release_tile(tile) in thread_render line 787.
Any idea what the issue could be? Has anything changed in the API interface
that I should change in my app to drive Cycles?
