Thank you Brecht for your recent CUDA 8.0 performance commits.

Even though not currently using CUDA 8.0, there's a great boost in
performance (now slightly faster than 2.77a).

In case helpful, comparison of quick renders (only 10 samples) from a
fairly complex scene presently working on.

Ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 64-bit
GTX 580m

2.77a
01:08.03

2.78
01:18.15

2.78.1 (ec6b593)
01:07.64

Due to performance improvements, will there be a Blender 2.78a release?

In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Cycles
developers, especially so for the amazing 2.78 GPGPU memory usage
optimisations while using multiple GPUs.

David
