Hi everyone,

For the past weeks, I have been working on integrating OpenVDB in
Blender and Cycles, and now it is time to share the code and gather
ideas. The goal is to allow exporting a smoke simulation to OpenVDB and
bring Cycles OpenVDB rendering support. Please note that this work for
now is mainly a proof of concept, whilst it can perform an export and we
can render in Cycles, there is quite a share of glitches and missing
features (for instance loading the file corresponding to the current
frame is not implemented yet).

As both projects deal with OpenVDB and are somewhat tied to each other,
I've done development in the same branch locally and therefore have
uploaded a single WIP patch here: https://developer.blender.org/D1308

Please, before attempting to use the patch (for the adventurous ones),
refer to the following wiki pages to see what's up in this patch, what's
to come, what need design decisions/feedback:

Smoke import/export:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Kevindietrich/OpenVDBSmokeExport
Cycles rendering:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Kevindietrich/OpenVDBRendering

So do test if you want, do give feedback or ideas, or do something else
(I'm not judging you ;).

That's it from me for the time being, feel free to ask any questions :)

Cheers,
Kévin.
