Hi Ton!
Thanks for the quick and clear answer, I will think about the tips you give to me (Developers, Renderfarm, Consultant).
The people are the key, no doubt about that.

Regards!!
Eibriel

Hi Eibriel,

Cycles is more than ready, but it has its strengths and weakness still. You can find this out yourself easily, or ask the artists who'll do the movie. It's all about the people first. If the lighting/design team can work with it, go for it.

Further - the use of Free Software shouldn't mean you don't spend money on it. Get scripters and developers on board to help the team, and reserve a budget for a couple of months (or more) for (Cycles) development of features you need.

For sure the target of Cycles is to be a production render system. In that sense you have the full power of the blender developer community behind you :)

In my experience, the main bottleneck for Cycles is still speed. You better secure a good render farm, and ask artists if the style and content for the movie allows optimizing well.

Lastly: get one of the people who did an Open Movie here as a pipeline consultant? Check www.blendernetwork.org.

Looking forward to more news!
