seems that mitsuba is using same sky model in lux render also:

Skylight emitter: The old version of this plugin used to implement the Preetham model, which suffered from a range of numerical and accuracy-related problems. The new version is based on the recent TOG paper An Analytic Model for Full Spectral Sky-Dome Radiance by Lukáš Hošek and Alexander Wilkie.

Those renders are just showing the color difference in the sky. i haven't done any real comparison of the lighting it was just an impression after doing various renders without tone mapping and similar lighting conditions. but materials can be different etc. Just asking, it was less important. my point was on sky colors but i understand if improving this (if is true it could be improved) isn't important.
