[Bf-cycles] AMD OpenCL progress:

Dear blenderheads,
I was reading through one of the AMD opencl cycles threads and have come
across someone(s) diagnoses of what can be enabled in cycles for AMD GPUs
and what can't(in which case results in an error like the Insufficient
Private Resources).

Talga9009 writes the following diagnoses:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've just tested enabling more features. The Beta 2 Driver is definitely a
step forward - nevertheless we're far away from "solved". My findings so
far: enabling __ANISOTROPIC__, __AO__, __BACKGROUND_MIS__ and
__MULTI_CLOSURE__ will give you a functioning kernel, without any errors.
Enabling __LAMP_MIS__, __HAIR__, __PASSES__ and __CAMERA_MOTION__ will give
you errors, not related to the "Insufficient Private Resources" issue.
Enabling __TRANSPARENT_SHADOWS__ will give you the well known "Insufficient
Private Resources" error (though I don't know, if this happens due to a
combination of features or isolated).

So, the "Insufficient Private Resources" error still exists, which means,
that AMD has greatly improved the drivers, but didn't fix the problem (yet).

My relevant system information:
Intel Xeon E3-1245v2 (Ivy Bridge)
Reference AMD HD7970 GHz Edition 3GB VRAM
16GB DDR3-1600 non-ECC
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These aren't my findings as i no longer have AMD GPU. These are Talga9009's
findings. These findings compared to the rest you'd find under this thread
seem comprehensive.

Maybe have a look at the features that are not working on the AMD GPUs
or have a word with the AMD(the person or group your working with) .

Kind Regards,

Nazim Mer
