Was just going to suggest that myself :)

If it had a renderman C api writing a rib parser is pretty straightforward
and would give external apps a 'standard' api to link against.

If nobody else wants to tackle this I can poke at it an hour or two after
work here and there -- the only real question is what parser generator
framework is preferred, flex/bison, boost spirit, other?

Another option might be to have a python api since everyone+dog seems to
use python in their 3d apps these days.
