It really _is_ a functional solution for _thousands_ of materials. A batch
file renaming tool can do this in about ten seconds.

That is why a "[ ] sRGB" or "[ ] gamma corrected" check box in Texture

It is far from ideal and would botch plenty of folks. These options would
be a tremendous regression.

Instead of mangling up pipelines, it probably makes sense to use one that
is more well fitted and streamlined. The filename is one such path that is
trivial to utilize.
