Good to know & thanks for checking on this. I actually met one SpaceNav
Linux user at last year's conference dinner -- would love to meet the other
two sometime!

Agreed, that's not an informative error message, and not really an error
for vast majority of people. I've made that and one other simple change to
libspnav before... now am reminded to share those changes with the
maintainer.

Just pushed the enable-on-Mac-by-default change.
