[Bf-committers] Any plans on deep compositing?

Thanks for that FXGuide link; now I understand the meaning of deep
compositing. And to put it mildly: Blender should consider this, please!
(Although I'm not much of a 3D artist ; still the possibilities that it
could offer for other artists.. blows my mind )

Could you not get the same effect by

No, I guess that just having the film (even if 3D) at some 3D position in
the scene, will let that 3D film interact with other 3D objects in your
scene, but when it comes to compositing, again the current renderlayer will
only provide a single value at each pixel position; and not any additional
samples as a function of Z-depth.

Yes, totally.. so again, to reiterate my vote for this feature.. given the
(relatively) recent Cycles advances in volumetric rendering, the timing
couldn't be better for this feature!
