AFAIK the issue with "inaccurate keys" is that keys pressed during modal 
operators are not displayed.
This is because a fundamental property of the API, and something which 
can be fixed without changes to the API..

There are many addons which are not distributed with blender. This addon 
is no different, it hasn't been deleted from existence ;)
