Hello all, my name is Luke Swanson, I am currently a Software
Engineering student at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I've
been using Blender for a few years, and I am now considering applying
for GSoC 2014. I would like the opportunity to contribute something to
Blender, while gaining programming experience and making a bit of money
as well. I feel that a Summer of Code project would be a good way to
accomplish all of this.
However, I am still fairly new to programming; when the summer comes I
will have been coding for about a year and a half. What level of
experience are GSoC students working with Blender expected to have? I am
always eager to learn new things as I work, but if my lack of experience
would prevent me from doing anything productive, I wouldn't want to
waste one of Blender's GSoC slots. Any advice on if/how I should proceed?
