Hi Irie,

I don’t know much about this area of code, but I tested your patch on my 
french keyboard (debian64) and… it works!

In fact, it’s even better: while with current trunk they behave just as 
standard char key, the patch makes my dead and compositing keys work as 
expected! :D

So for me, on a user POV, it’s a big +1!
