the optimal case for it to work is:
-freeze the mouse movement
-press g (now it will lock to mouse)
-move your mouse as desired
-press g to confirm

the error can happen if do the above steps, but:
-instead of the 1st step, you'll be moving your mouse.

it will lock and confirm directly!
i think it's easy to fix, but as i said before :
the whole patch doesn't add any simplicity to using blender.
