having the option is nice, but one seldom ever wants to add a globally
aligned camera; makes more sense as a default to align to view.

there is also a setting in the editing user preferences to align to view
(this is the old behavior) by default. To be honest what I would like
for meshes is to align to view in edit mode and to world in object
mode... I don't think that level of control is possible right now.

that's answered, but I have a complaint about how torus add or any
operator that remembers presets works: perhaps a bug even - if you at
any point undo then your settings are forgotten and you are back to
defaults.
btw, I find that subdivide remembers your settings in bmesh... very
annoying (for me)
