Hi Joe,

We're in a freeze before release, and everyone agreed on only doing  
crucial bugfixes.
There's also a good convention to discuss commits in areas with the  
official maintainers first...

I'd rather see this commit reverted, and have it added after 2.57,  
based on thumbs-up from Daniel Genrich and Janne Karhu as well?
