Hello, I posted a new version of the patch with some of the feature
request I recieved, and cleaner code.
There is some update problem which apply also to histogram. I will try
to track it down and send a separate patch just for it.

For now my patch added scopes to the image editor. The sequencer stays
unchanged but their are plans to port the sequencer preview to the
image editor (like the viewer node) so lets hope this is still the
case.

Also I am not sure of what is the stage of sequencer in 2.5 but I
think all the threaded code (proxy, prefetch) is commented out.
