[Bf-committers] Features missing in 2.5x (compared to 2.49)

Hi,

some time ago Ton asked to send him mail with features missed in 2.5x 
(compared to 2.49). I don't know what happened with these mails. I think 
they should be compiled in the Wiki. So I did, free for anyone to add 
things so that we can maybe make some "official" document out of it. 
Surely also some points for new devs on it.

Sorry for the fact that there are also some bugs on this list and new 
features, I will clean this later.
