now i don't really disagree that you should be able to remove the lights from the glsl shaders but would it not be better if it was when you turn off the light for rendering instead of hiding the light. 

i for one usually work in glsl mode when texturing or just animating(for the shadows) and i usually hide everything im not working on with shift h as it is right now everything just turns black and i have to go and unhide all lights every time.
personally i just want to get rid of the wireframe display part of the light when hiding it getting rid of it by turning off the render for the light would be handy compared to moving it to another layer + hiding that layer.
