Hi all,

talked with Ton via irc, but will mail the list to clarify.

My plan/interest is to do a development and docs and support biz,
hiring past and present core coders to work part/full time on Blender,
as well as recruiting new talent, focused on what users express to be
their highest priority, providing high quality written documentation
(and video demonstration) of each feature shortly after it is
developed. Also writing developer documentation - expanding on the
'developer quick start guide' and doing patches/sample implementations
of a feature for each core area. In addition providing weekly builds
for all of the major platforms for users that want to keep on the
bleeding edge of testing builds.

Another issue is patch review - I'd like to use a portion of the
funding to increase the rate of patch review and to help sheperd
patches through the review process, helping new devs to solve the
remaining issues in their patches.

The survey was to confirm that this was indeed things that Blender
users wanted. The email to the list was to see if there were other
devs beyond the group of devs I've already talked to who would be
interested in participating (Current estimate is I could easily get
3-5 core devs part time; and 2-3 full time and probably quite a few
more).

Some devs and users are definitely skeptical to this plan/goal, others
are excited/interested. My desire/plan is to manage things similarly
to how I managed my GSoC project
