This discussion bears similarity to the Y2K scares of late 20th century. Please focus more on developing B2.5 and less on (re)naming.

I must say that this argument about the format limit got me tickle too. I 
can't see how the format, even withoug changes, could prevent from 
versioning higher than 9. I did not look at the format. But let's assume it 
is in ASCII and only one character is dedicated to major number. There is 
nothing in there that would prevent to start using A for version 10 and B 
for version 11... use hexadecimal encoding. ... whateverdecimal encoding. 
The 256 unique value of a character could be mapped in multiple ways.
