[Bf-committers] Proposals to improve usability

Hi,
There are few things where I’m tumbled with Blender.
So here are some proposals:
1. There are many cases where viewport has to be able to rotate to
certain angle, different than global axis directions. Especially
this is needed in architectural and machinery modeling.
- Operation of numpad '7', '1' and '3' could be changed so that
they obey active transform orientation (Global, Local, user,
etc.), for instance when 'Sft'-button is pressed simultaneously.
- In 'Properties' panel ('N') there is already rotation settings
for selected items and cursor, but there is no viewport rotation
setting which should also be in there.
2. In architectural or machinery modeling there is very important to be able to
align and snap things with each other, in different ways.
- Snap operator must have also direction selection either automatic, or at
first, manually. This snap direction finds out target's directions
(vertex, edge or face normal), and uses that value as constraints
to shift snap point in the 3D space.
- Also these alignment and snap methods must be able to be changed during the
operation (for example when moving a face, pressing an 'A' as for alignment
or snap and selecting correct method).
3. Now, when blender's development is hardly middle of the way to finish,
there are lots of add-ons already in the program. I can imagine that the
amount of them is increasing, well maybe not exponentially but, quite rapidly
to the vast number.
That's why there must be some kind of method to handle all these add-ons
neatly. Maybe one way is to organize add-ons into groups. It means that
the add-on's info-structure has to have a value for group-information.
There could be predefined groups, what to use. These groups are used in the
‘Userpreference’ as well as in the ‘Add’ menu.
There might be separated submenu for add-ons!?!
Hopefully this is understandable and meaningful!
