y'all need to check out Idle - it's free with Python, and well suited to editing it. Also, Eclipse is a very cool environment, and at a higher level, Jira adds in bug tracking and SVN integration as well.

Check your text editor for a python mode. On my editor (emacs),
hitting the tab key whilst in the initial white space of an
indented line puts you at the end of the indent (start of the
actual code). The tab key never inserts a tab character.
