BTW, you can combine editable particles and softbody physics.  It works 
just fine.  What doesn't work is normal particle effectors (e.g. force 
fields).  These work fine if your using SB (though I noticed the 
Spherical mode seems inverted), since SB works, but not in normal 
particle mode.
