My vote is to make a preference so you can enable picky mode
(or some other clever name)  Where it will then prompt you if you
have made changes.  (I like the previous comment about if the undo
buffer has changed)

Then make the default so picky mode is enabled.
I do like the idea moving the saved quit file.

I do not like the idea of removing the X so people can't quit that way.
