Hi,

Everyone know the .blend file format, but as we are in a some re-write stage :-)
I've think about using an open standard file format for blender, where
we can put any kind of
data, current ones as well as futur ones...

Does someone have heard about EBML? => http://ebml.sourceforge.net/specs/

It's a binary data format used by the famous video/audio container
Matroska (http://www.matroska.org/technical/specs/index.html).
It can be compared to the XML but for binaries data.

What about to use EBML as a futur .blend format?

BR,
Guillaume
