[Bf-committers] Strange behaviour in particle system

Hi to all,

I am experiencing a strange behaviour using the particle system.
First of all it seems to me that there is no procedure to create a
working dupliverts particle system in a reproducable way on my actual
project file.

I parent the emitter-want-to-be-object to the duplicate-me-object and
then enable duplivert on the parent and then make it an emitter.
Mostly it doesn't work, but sometimes it does. What am I doing wrong
or is this a bug? What could be a cause?

Furthermore, copying and moving or just moving a working object-
emitter system to a different layer already makes the particle system
not working properly any more, which it did before with following
visible result: it just emits particles, but does not duplicate the
objects.

Maybe this is just a side effect of a big, complex file. With a small
file, just starting with a new scene, things work. As soon as I click
'dupliverts' objects duplicate - same on the big file (~100MByte) -
nothing happens.

I would like to set the file downloadable, but am not allowed to. So
see what the whole thing is about (msmpeg4v2) at:
http://ocanom.com/downloads/wasser_quadplane_transp_more.avi
or:
http://ocanom.com/downloads/wasser_quadplane_transp_more.avi.zip

Has anyone exprienced similar behaviour? Is there a workaround, any
hints or pointers how to find the error?

Greets and thanks in advance for any clue
