If the folks who volunteered to help with linux could go ahead and
start by running tests on the following builds, that'd be great:
Python 2.4 Dynamic:
http://djc.people.sgalliance.com/blender/blender-2.44-linux-glibc232-py24-i386.tar.bz2
Python 2.4 Static:
http://djc.people.sgalliance.com/blender/blender-2.44-linux-glibc232-py24-i386-static.tar.bz2
Python 2.5 Dynamic:
http://djc.people.sgalliance.com/blender/blender-2.44-linux-glibc232-py25-i386.tar.bz2
Python 2.5 Static:
http://djc.people.sgalliance.com/blender/blender-2.44-linux-glibc232-py25-i386-static.tar.bz2

Also, if everyone interested in helping with platform specific tasks
for blender could jump on the new bf-linux list here:
http://projects.blender.org/mailman/listinfo/bf-linux/ that'd be
rather helpful. In the future we'll be using this list to set up
organized testing on each major distro and keep track of downstream
bug reports as well as builds for the various architectures linux
tends to run on. Or that's the idea anyways... let's see where it
goes.

Of special interest this round is how the py25 builds work on machines
with only py24 and any differences between these two builds in terms
of major issues. Of additional interest is the state of the recently
revived static builds, they went missing for awhile, now they're back.

Here's hoping for a smooth release,
~D.J.
