That's my motivation, I wouldn't want to put in months of hard work
into a project that doesn't get finished, such as the Nurbana project.

After evaluating all of my ideas, I have come to the conclusion that
fixing the audio system is more important and is challenging enough to
be the sole focus of my proposal.

There seems to be a general consensus that it is necessary for Blender
should use one audio library, but I don't think there is a single
library can meet all of Blenders needs. The SDL library is
unnecessary, but OpenAL is the only option for 3D audio.

I'm going to draft a proposal to replace SDL with gstreamer. I'll
outline all of the benefits in my proposal, but the only downside is
the fact that it can't replace OpenAL.

My proposal will have 3 primary goals (in order of implementation):

1. Audio that works (It sounds silly, but on my system playback is
completely broken)
2. Add multichannel support to the sequencer
3. Embed multiple channels in avi/mov files.

Gstreamer adds a ton of other possibilities, but these three things
will make a lot of users very happy.

I don't know if this will be considered a big enough challenge, have
decided that I won't pad my proposal with other moderate sized tasks.

Thanks,

Michael
