Sorry, but I don't think that's the way to go. That's like saying "Abolish
the driver's license, instead hand people a 500-page book on how to drive,
with comments like "STOP AT THIS SIGN!!!" and "THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO
HANDLE 200 MPH ON MOTORWAYS"" ... they still won't do any good ;)

I'm not asking for a 'formal education', because I don't have *any* formal
education at all. But a certain degree of experience when contributing
non-trivial code to one of the top 5 most complicated open source projects
in existance (my guess!) is certainly necessary.

Last post from me on this topic - to avoid the "he spams the mailing list"
trap ;)
