Hi,

didn't want to bash, sorry!

But those, who ranted about iff.h not synchronised simply haven't read my
post. Period.

My patch works (at least for me and paprmh).

Giuseppe Ghibò had another issue with VarStruct, which he tried to fix
(but enlarged the name-field on the way) and I asked him to check, if his
fix will also work with 16 characters. (His problem was more a
range-checking issue, so it should not step in our way and work
regardless of the field-size.)

As I pointed out in my first post, I do not think, that Ton's changes are
possible in any other way. So I coded a workaround.

Only issue left was Campbell's patch.

Campbell didn't make it very clear, if I can revert or if we should wait
for others to comment.

So the intention of my last E-mail was simply: should I commit or are
there any other ideas on this topic.

And again: no bashing intended. (Maybe a little bit bashing intended on
those, who _really_ haven't followed the discussion in the first place
and started ranting... ;-)
