Hi Peter!
Revision 12999 fixes the red background - but I still only get one or
two scanlines at the top of the video preview. (See the included image
in the bug report.)
This happens both with external ffmpeg (ffmpegcvs-20071206 from debian
marillat) and the ffmpeg included in the Blender sources.

Is there a way to use the output from the compositor directly in the
sequence editor (like using a scene strip)?
