for 2d also SVG has beziers, but it seemed that the maya import list you 
posted did not have that (it did have adobe illustrator though, perhaps 
svgs could be converted to that?). also afaik the blender svg script 
(path import) is import only. with some luck, like someone having 
already made svg tools for both apps, or working on it yourselves that 
is an alternative.
