[Bf-committers] Armature parent deform from API?

When you parent an armature to an Object with a mesh, that object gets a
'Armature parent deform' modifier. Is there a way to get this modifier from
the Blender API?

Now users have to press the 'make real' button, before I can see the
modifier from the API.

I need this for exporting skinned meshes to Collada 1.4.

Does anybody has some insight to this problem?
