Hi,

I have no idea about the other problems I'm afraid, but I should note  
that the built-in font in bf cvs has recently been updated to a  
modified version of DeJa Vu Sans, which supports Cyrillic characers  
( http://mke3.net/blender/etc/blender_cyrillic.png )
