[Bf-committers] Unrecoverable error in SubSurf calculation

While testing a rewrite of the recently commited
join_triangles code I came across the following
error....

"Unrecoverable error in SubSurf calculation"

I looked for the source of this error, and apparently
it's something checked for in subsurf_ccg.c line 886.
Apparently its caused by some malformation of the mesh
data itself, but it stops short of explicitly saying
what the error is, and without being farmilar with the
internals of the ccgSubsurf code itself I'm can't tell
just by glancing at the source.

I was hoping that someone who is farmilar with this
code could enlighten me as to what specifically might
cause this sort of error so that I can determine if
its caused by my code or the recent flurry of activity
in CVS.

I'm also interested in knowing the specific error this
checks for because IMHO editmesh is badly in need of
validation routines that tool authors can use to check
the integrity of the mesh data structure during the
development of new features. I'm not entirely sure
what should go into such routines, but this seems like
a good candidate to check for.

Cheers,
Geoffrey Bantle
