in case someone interested does not already know, just thought to mention that 
DPX is like a new version of Cineon, standardized by SMPTE .. 
http://www.graphicsmagick.org/www/motion-picture.html seemed like a nice 
write-up about the formats. 

(too bad graphicsmagick itself does not support openexr, and then again other 
tools like http://www.mpi-sb.mpg.de/resources/pfstools/man1/index.html which 
work with exr dont support cineon/dpx right now AFAIK)
