Hear hear!

I agree that the final "Composite" node act as a final result, and as a
viewer for any intermediary.  When it's the final, it should adopt a  
name
that indicates this status:  "Final Composite" or "Final Image" come to
mind.  I've been confused by the two-endpoint node plans also.
