The future is not that indefined: 

It's whoever is fastest: Google to fix their COLLADA 1.4 compliance, or 
Illusoft building a workaround for this non-compliance. Either should be no 
big deal and probably happening within weeks or at most a few months. 

It's a minor detail, not worth spending our time on discussing :-)
