Try to disable Game Engine audio in the userprefs (it's labelled
"Disable Game Sound"). The problem is that probably the Game engine is
taking your audio device so that it isn't available to the sequencer
anymore. Then, re-select the mixing buffer size, ctrl-u, maybe restart
Blender, and try again.
