Campbell,
   I'm going to propose to the SoC, and have several ideas for
proposals. The render farm idea sounds like a good soc project that
can really benefit blender, and wouldn't mind doing it, even more when
the mentor is really interested too. Can a student send several
proposals? If more than one is accepted (highly unprobable), the
student will have to chose one.
